Shenandoah National Park.

Anniversary and weekend trip up to a missed national park on the east coast. Alexis and I took off in the civic for the far drive to the heart of Virginia.

First stop was in the town of Staunton Virgina. We made a emergency stop at a Ice shop as soon as we pull into town during the night. It had that after little league baseball game feel. Right down the road we pulled in to the hotel, which was a old hostipal. My mom explained to me later that she had visited this place before when she was little and that my uncle was station there long ago. We wandered around grounds during the night.

In the morning, we drove north a bit further, we changed plans because we could see that the ridge line for the skyline drive was still socked in with clouds. So we decided to drive north to south to give it a chance to clear out. We took the backroad up through the Shenandoah Valle proper. Driving through the Laray Caverns and stopping at Cooter’s Garage (dukes of hazard) museum.

We pulled on to Skyline drive at a mid-point intersection. Much of the Views and pulled would be still obscured by clouds. We stopped for 2 hikes, Stoney Man and Black Rock Summit.

Afterwards, we had enough time to stop by Monticello for a tour and hike.

That night we spent time in downtown Charlottesville. Enjoyed a French restaurant, alcoholic freeze pops, and a slice of pizza. We stayed in a alumni focus hotels, like one that is in PSU. There morning we waiting in line for famous bagels.

Then winery tours of the Virginian country side. One of the last ones had a polo match to watch. We then took a different way back home, and drove by a WOODWICK candle factory. We stopped and loaded up on the reject candles.
