Small weather and time windows opened up and I joined Tim for his kick off not having a job any more. I headed out of charlotte in the new truck and made as far as London, Ky, where I slept mediocrely in a Walmart parking lot.
That foggy morning, I met up with Tim at a Cracker Barrel, to help fuel us through they day. 1st stop was a new area called Miller’s Fork. Some real 4×4 was required on the muddy road which added to the fun. After going through 1 large stream crossing and some large muddy holes, I didn’t expect to see anyone at the trailhead. However, apparently everyone else decided it was a trail day and go time to check out Miller Fork. We climbed at the Cooper’s Cove line to get acquainted with the rock. The pump kicked in right away. Most memorable route of the day was a tufa like route with called “work therapy.” That night, I felt the flu coming on and down a bunch of drugs and passed out inside of the hangar at Land of Arches.
Day 2, we when to PMRP area and climbed at the Curbside crag. More fun 4×4 was need to get in at out of a couple of the parking areas. More climbing was had and the weather was really nice. We end up having all of the area’s to ourselves. That night, we had the standard dinner at Miguel’s with a pizza and sight seeing.
Day 3, we head back to the PRMP area and the Brightside area, most of the morning we had the line to ourselves, then people started to filter into. I met cool Canadian who dressed exactly like myself in my Patagonia sweater. We followed the sun and eventually end completely exhausted with both climbing and battling the sickness. I dropped Tim back off at his truck and sent him on his way, as I made my way back to Charlotte. The long 7hr + drive wore on and on.
