Bye Colorado
My time living in Colorado has drawn to a close. It has been a great time playing, working, and living in the high country. However, as one adventure ends the next are just beginning to arrive.
Immediately after the Utah trip, I packed up the Blazer with my entire life and Alexis flew into help me drive across the Midwest. Having already driven both I-70 and I-80, I chose the southern and more direct route to Charlotte NC along I-40. Leaving Colorado Springs, we drove south through the tip of New Mexico and Texas stopping in Dumas, TX.
The next day consisted of a stop at the route 66 Museum and Oklahoma city. In Oklahoma city, we stop and toured bricktown and the bombing memorial. More driving lead to Gore, OK the trout capital of OK. No hotels in Gore lead us down the road more to Sallisaw, OK and the most depressing casino in the world.
The following day led to Petite Jean State Park and getting caught in a large rain storm. This chased us onward to Little Rock and the Bill Clinton Presidential Library. After stalking around the fake oval office, even more driving pulled us in to Memphis. In Memphis, we walked around town and drank along Beale St listening to blues music from all the bands.
Before leaving Memphis, we saw this giant pyramid that was an old stadium. However it was just sold and going under renovations to become a gigantic Bass Pro shop. Onwards, we went to Nashville to tour there downtown. Again we got caught in a huge rainstorm. There was a big street festival downtown for the Jimmy Buffet concert which still brought out a good bit of people. After eating, drinking and listening to country music, we drove through Tennessee till Knoxville.
Lastly was the big long stretch to Charlotte.
