Sheeps Nose, Turkey Rocks, Snake Pits

Turkey Perch

On a Saturday in August, we made a quick local-ish trip around the south Platte. There were a pile of us from the gym that hit up some real rock. Apparently we only climb at locations that have animal names. Everything started at the sheeps nose.

Patrick said we could meet some people up at the sheep’s nose that were bouldering. We were game and stopped by several notable boulders. The one I remember was called Air Jordan. Mirthe had me a video of everyone climbing it. I stole it and here it is.

Next we went to Turkey rocks to get some trad on. Trad climbing takes as much time in preparation as climbing. So everyone went through their ritual and made some awesome tape gloves. I was given my left hand’s tape glove from a leaving climber, success! Everyone lead or went up a 5.8 trad route. I ended up with this nice off-width, which consumed my shoulder and thigh. It was all worth it for the several roof pulls. Ragger Bagger was now ticked! Mirthe made another video, but we didn’t film much there.

Then on Sunday we had recovery boulder session at the snake pits, again I am stealing Mirthe’s videos
