I revisited Pilot Mountain this past weekend, the forecast was crappy but the sun would be shining on the south facing walls. I haven’t been back to the place in over a year, so it was good to experience the area again, although this time we were confined to the Amphitheater as people had projects to work on.
Crowders Hidden Wall: Round 2
On a nice Sunday, we decided to enjoy the sunshine and dryness and go to the hidden wall at Crowders. This would let me cross some more routes off my ever growing need to do list.
Sauratown: Trips and Ticklists
Approach up to to Sauratown for Climbing
I missed all the fun and festivities last when the CCC (Carolina Climbing Coalition) got access restore to the Sauratown Cliffs. This year it was made a point to get out there before things would close down. Also, if you somehow wandered to this post for Sauratown Beta (through google or other devilish search engineering methods), give the CCC a few bucks for getting access restored.
Labor Day 2014 – New River (Junkyard, Bridge, Cirque)
Face Plant – Lilly Grace Von Doombringer
Great weather window and good coordination with friends and parents, I was off and up to the New River Gorge again for Labor Day weekend. With the Jeep, in good working order, after some hot date nights with Alexis at the Junkyard to pull off new parts I left Charlotte for the 3.5 hr drive to the bridge.

4th of July at the New River
Again during the fourth of July, I ran away to the New River to climb. Loaded down with camping gear and too many racks, John Lee and I drove up in his robust red Focus aiming to reach the Kaymoor area early Friday morning.

Rumbling Bald and Rock Face Recreational Park

October 2013 Climbing Trip
Rocktober
The end October came around and it is the best time of year to get out and climb some rocks. I was able to coordinate my week of climbing to tag along with some friends from Colorado who also happened to be doing a climbing trip across America for the fall.

Shelf Road’s Last Hoorah

During the last couple of months, I went down to Shelf several times. Different things occurred during the trips by I decided to make 1 compilation post of Shelf pictures from the events. Continue reading “Shelf Road’s Last Hoorah”
West Virginia: Summersville and New River Climbing
Orange Oswald
Before heading out to Jay’s Bachelor party weekend in Deep Creek Maryland, Nathan and I loaded up his truck with climbing gear and drove down to Summersville, WV to meet Alexis for some climbing. The plan was to spend 2 days down there swimming and climbing before the party weekend.
