Finally, I was able to dedicate myself to getting out to WV and the New River Gorge for several consecutive weekends in a row. The ending results were a lot of fun with friends and “climbing associates”, sending of many new routes, and even putting up a couple hard ones for myself.

The Obed
I drove out from the city of Charlotte in the Blazer for the Lands of Tennessee. My Destination was set, I was head for the shangra-la of the Obed. My need to visit was driven by the overheard stories of overhanging sandstone walls, rushing water, and vibrant deciduous forests.

New River Gorge Summer Round-up
Ah yes, all of my previous commitments and trips were finally completed. I was finally able to reserve a weekend for me and some rocks. Being in the heart of summer, I had to be weary of the hordes at Summersville Lake and wondered what other climbing holes would be cool enough spend the day at.
Chattanooga – Twall to Sunset Park Sampler

Chattanooga has been in the back of my head since move down into the southeast. Fables and whispers are told of sandstone gorges that house massive roofs and overhanging walls, with splitter cracks in between. A spare weekend and good weather was all that was need to chase down these tells of rock.

4th of July at the New River
Again during the fourth of July, I ran away to the New River to climb. Loaded down with camping gear and too many racks, John Lee and I drove up in his robust red Focus aiming to reach the Kaymoor area early Friday morning.

Moab, Utah: Back for the Climbing
Dudes and Deserts
As a last ditch effort before I left Colorado and the west in general, there was talk of a Utah trip. Moab. Ben was leaving the state soon as well and he never really went to Utah with the focus on tackling more of the technical stuff.
