This weekend I went up to Looking Glass rock with Joe to perform some route maintenance to the Glass. We packed up all of the construction equipment the night before and got ready for a long day.
Travels and Vagabonds
Fall was here and it’s time to go to the mountain and enjoy the crisp cold air of the season. Alexis decided to tag along with me on the weekend trip up to Brevard. We left Charlotte in the Blazer, this would be its first be road trip in a while.
Finally, an outside climbing weekend. After 4 weeks of falling through of partners, poor weather and other random events, I would be able to touch real dry rock again.
Looking Glass Again
We took another trip to Looking Glass, this time, to camp and hang out with Matt, his wife Jodie, and John. It was just the breaking into the fall in North Carolina so which mean it was prime time to camp again. We left Saturday in the morning and coordinated to meet Matt at the North Side. Alexis and I took off to Brevard for some late summer hiking and camping. We left early on Saturday, and got to the Trout Hatchery pretty quickly. After feeding the aggressive and hungry trout (if only we had more quarters we would have feed them all), we hiked up the Cat Gap trail.

Aaron and Matt invited me out to climbing at Looking Glass Rock for the first time, specifically the north end. The other time I was there was back when I visited Alexis before moving here. We did a quick day hike to the cliff face and I got to experience stinging nettles for the 1st time. This trip I was aiming to be more vertically inclined, rather than horizontal stung.
Massive Fire Place at Grove Park
I arrived in North Carolina FINALLY at 3am on Thursday (Cali time) after being in California for work discussing rabbit farms. Alexis took me to River Jam at the Whitewater Center on Thursday so I could make friends with the climbers and flash some routes and wow others.
