Alexis long time goal of having a tea party with Mallo came to full realism.
Nashville to Mammoth Cave Country
We took off late on a Thursday for a flight to the heart and soul of TN, Nashville. It was Alexis’s birthday trip and we decided to go visit a city that had some good nightlife and also close to a national park, known at Mammoth Cave.
California (+ NV and UT) Road Trip – 2 Weeks
It had been awhile since Alexis and I had gone on a good extended adventure. She had a bunch of time off to use or lose before the end of the year, and I didn’t have a critical position at my current place of employment. So we set off on a 2 week road trip to live in a van and travel parts the southwest USA. (approximately 2800 miles of driving) Continue reading “California (+ NV and UT) Road Trip – 2 Weeks”
Moore’s Wall- North End
With the heat of summer baring down on the land, the closest cool option was to set off and explore the northside of Moore’s Wall. Alexis had never been to Moore’s, which put her in company with the majority of climbers around NC. There is some type of mystique that turns people off, but it is just good trad climbing fun.
Atlanta – World of Coke and Georgia Aquarium
We drove down directly after work to the sprawl that is Atlanta and fittingly, stayed the night in one of sprawl centers called the Perimeter. The first order of business was to check out a gamer bar called “Battle and Brew.” It was hopping for being in the middle of strip-mall. People were geeking out on the computer towers playing WOW, LOL, Smite, or some type of Mmorpg, (wth.roflol). I drank the elixir of the Dark Blood of the Overload in Darkness (Rum and Ginger beer) and played Chuthlu Flux, before calling it a night. New York, New York
The big city of New York never seemed to draw me in when I lived in PA. But now with some worldly views and experiences under my belt and mainly because I had a good excuse (Derek) – Alexis and I made the jump to go to the Big Apple. Continue reading “New York, New York”
Little Wilson: Tucked in the Hollar
Rocky Quartz Veins
We were looking for an exploratory excursion of hiking and climbing, and trying to get to Little Wilson fit the bill. Direction on Mountain Project were sparse and out dated, as that washing machine was gone, and parking lot description were not so good.
Crowders Hidden Wall: Round 2
On a nice Sunday, we decided to enjoy the sunshine and dryness and go to the hidden wall at Crowders. This would let me cross some more routes off my ever growing need to do list.
Penn State: New Years and Caving
Lion Shrine Time
New Years at Penn State still happens to be the best thing to do to bring in the new year. This time we convinced Ben and Amanda to join us for the trip, as well as for an adventure on New Years Day.
Chattanooga – Twall to Sunset Park Sampler
Twall in November
Chattanooga has been in the back of my head since move down into the southeast. Fables and whispers are told of sandstone gorges that house massive roofs and overhanging walls, with splitter cracks in between. A spare weekend and good weather was all that was need to chase down these tells of rock.
