For Memorial Day, we went to the smoky mountains. We took the long way around bu going up to I40 and down passed Knoxville. Driving into Gatlinburg we could see all the burned out structures for the previous year’s fire.
Looking Glass – Glass Menagerie
In late April, Joe and I made a beta bid for the a free ascent on the Glass Menagerie at Looking Glass Rock. This would be a adventure on a real rock climb up the shear granite face of the north side.
Morrow Mountain State Park
For a weekend adventure Alexis and I went eastward from Charlotte to explore a new state park. Alexis found Morrow Mountain State Park which is park of a old rolling set of hills in the peidmont. We drove out through the countryside through many different small farm towns. When we got to the larger town of Albermarl, we were close to the park.
Greenville – Weekend trip

Chattanooga before New Years
For New Years, we decided to take a different approach and headed down to a southern city this year. Our aim this years was toward Chattanooga for a couple day before the new year broke. Looking Glass – Fall Climbing Southside
Fall was here and it’s time to go to the mountain and enjoy the crisp cold air of the season. Alexis decided to tag along with me on the weekend trip up to Brevard. We left Charlotte in the Blazer, this would be its first be road trip in a while.
Moores Wall – Cold North End

West Virginia – New River- Fern Buttress

New River Gorge was visited again but this time it would be a a focus on the sampling of the Fern Buttress and the Endless Wall. I drove up solo, having phone conversation with long lost friends who I begged to entertain me on my drive. I got to the a very pack and crowded ACC campground. It kind of a sad place to be now, after staying there back in the beginning when it was the wildwest. With a forgotten tent, I pulled the blazer into a open slot and sleep through the night. Nashville to Mammoth Cave Country
We took off late on a Thursday for a flight to the heart and soul of TN, Nashville. It was Alexis’s birthday trip and we decided to go visit a city that had some good nightlife and also close to a national park, known at Mammoth Cave.
