Before heading out to Jay’s Bachelor party weekend in Deep Creek Maryland, Nathan and I loaded up his truck with climbing gear and drove down to Summersville, WV to meet Alexis for some climbing. The plan was to spend 2 days down there swimming and climbing before the party weekend.

The Trail Up to the Summit
Next Morning after climbing the Wetterhorn, we mustered together and set off to climb Handies. It is one of the easier of the 14ers. Handies is located in the American Basin, next to cinnamon pass, which will lead you straight into Silverton. The road was ruff and we combined cars halfway up.

Bruce and I carpooled out to Lake City late on a Friday night. Were cruised through Lake city around 1100Pm and made the trailhead by midnight. We had made plans to meet Barnoff in the morning, so we made a quick camp and watch as the milkyway took over the sky.
Massive Fire Place at Grove Park
I arrived in North Carolina FINALLY at 3am on Thursday (Cali time) after being in California for work discussing rabbit farms. Alexis took me to River Jam at the Whitewater Center on Thursday so I could make friends with the climbers and flash some routes and wow others.

Sharkstooth
Early June, Ben and I climbed the Sharkstooth in RMNP. The day was going to be three man team, with us bivying at the start. However due to complications, it turned into Ben and I doing a solid one day push starting at 1 AM in Boulder.
Summit Sunrise
Four 14ers in one morning was a impromptu to decision. At first I was just planning on crashing in the blazer alongside the road and continue up to vail for the Teva Mtn Games in the morning. But during the drive through the high plains of Hartsel, I knew there was easy 14er hike I could do while leaving plenty of time Mtn games. So I made my way to the Kite Lake trailhead.
Fishing and Climbing
The second days adventure included Bobby, Nathan, Tyler and newly appearing Ben. After feasting on breakfast and handing out the proper attire of the day. We all packed up and tried to find somewhere where the weather was dry. The only place that I knew of having the faintest of possibilities was Shelf r\Road. Nathan, Tyler and Bobby (Nathan’s friend) were doing their cross-country road trip and were able to spend several days in Colorado. They spent the beginning of the week up in Boulder with all the nice weather while hanging out with Tattoo Artists in Sushi restaurants. On “Deeper Shade of Soul” at The Gym – 5.13b
The last Sunday in March, a trip was organized to head down to Shelf Rd and get on some harder stuff. Pascal and Mirthe had finally moved to the USA a couple weeks ago and they had some climbing projects in mind. I invited Tom from work, which also joined in the Sunday fun. We all started the day with a nice stop at the friendly “Canyon City Coffee Café” and the continued on to “The Bank” parking lot.

Finally the weather in Colorado turned in the right direction for the climbing season. This weekend in April, a bunch of fun dudes got together to climb the granite walls of clear creek.
