The Farm
During the standard-mandatory-enforced-timeoff of work-time, I headed home for some good old family fun. Playing at home is always a fun time and includes lots of mischief and Robber-Barron activities. Here’s a list of some of the things I was able to document during this time: Continue reading “Christmas around the Farm (& some Thanksgiving pictures)”
In the middle of October, the parents came out to visit and have some high mountain fun. The trip would be the standard Colorado tour, including lots of eating, rock climbing, elk spotting, snow storms, high plains drifting, and hanging out at 14,000 ft.
Mr. Tim was in town on his way to California for his new job, so he had a couple days to kill.
Jimmy and I loaded up the X-Terra with a bunch of manly items and we set off up Upper Old Stage Coach for some Saturday fun. Continue reading “Manly Pumpkin Killing”
The second season of elk hunting in Colorado proved to be a very frustrating one. Lots of walking, tons of old signs, and other frolicking animals. Continue reading “Hunting for Elk”
First Flatiron
Back in Boulder again, I suggested to Ben that we climb the 1st flatiron before the weather started to turn and before the rock would be closed for raptor nesting. The approach we had planed was the direct route of the east face. This normally ends up being about 7-10 pitches (depending on your rope length and how ballsy you are).
Shelf Road and Surrounding Area
For the long Labor Day weekend, everyone decided to do their own activities Friday and eventually meet up Saturday for some camping and climbing activities. In the morning, I aimed to go fishing at Skagway with some random gold mine stops. I stopped alongside the road outside of Victor and found some abandoned mines, I decided to get artsy with it and the following pictures ensued. Continue reading “Shelf Road Adventures”
Yarmony
In the Middle of August, the banks of the Colorado River ran heavy with the presence of a hippy commune. Lured by the aspect of music performance, camping, and tubing down the Colorado River while listening to a floating band – a group of 5 adventurers wandered deep into the lifestyle of the gypsy hippy. Continue reading “Yarmony: Hippy Festival”
Flatirons of Boulder
The Flatirons of Boulder beckoned me again this August. Ben had planned out a climb of another one of the five most recognized flatirons in Boulder. There was also talk about trying another climb, but we wouldn’t know until the day of the climb. The task ahead for the weekend would be 4-5 pitches on the Seal, and cracky 5.8 high on the ridge. Continue reading “Boulder: Trad Climbing Seal Rock and Devil’s Thumb”
Seattle and Rainer
In the days, before the trip up Rainer, we did some exploring through Seattle and the nearby towns. We stayed in Ben’s friend Egor’s house, located in the suburb of Magnolia. Here we set up our base of operations and cruised around the town, seeing all that one could in a couple of days. Continue reading “Seattle: the City”
