A hot and boring weekend in Charlotte sent us up in to the mountains to try and beat the heat and entertain ourselves.
He hadn’t been to Linville in some time and decided to hike down into the river along the spence ridge trail.
Hiking down the trail, I brought my hand sheers and clean up the trail as we went down. After working up good sweat, we made to the bottom of the gorge. The old bridge pylons were still visible, and bridge decks one side were the only things left. We ate our sandwiches, swam in the cool crisp water, and took some pictures.
It was a really nice way to spend a day doing nothing much outside.
On the drive back, we stop shortly and did a loop of the Upper and Lower Creek Falls along 181.
