City exploration time! We headed south to check out the great and old city of Savanah. We took a slightly roundabout way in to the city, but it allowed us to visit a national wild life refuge.
The refuge was an old rice field that was created when the 1st settlers came to the area. It since become a bastion for wildlife bird, bugs, and alligators. The day was quite muggy and lots of bugs were out. We didn’t see too many birds, but once our eyes adjusted we were finding alligators all over the place.
We pulled into the hotel and setup the base of operations. We did a nice walking tour of the spots around town. Alexis had been here before and she pointed out all the place she drank and party at. The Riverfront was much nicer than I expected. It had the same old world feel, but it was nice kept up and it as was cool to see the port was still fully operational. We even hopped on the free ferry ride across the channel and views the city from on far.
At night, we signed up for a haunt town of the town. Our over the top guide talked about all the murders and ghosts of the city, which places were still haunted, and proof of some photographs that showed of the cross dimensional planes intersecting. In the morning, we had some breakfast and met Alexis’s old roommate Rachel and her husband Butch. Walked the streets some more and sample some delicious pralines.
Then we left the city for a quick stop at the famous cemetery called Bonaventure. It was neat but strange at all the people that were just hanging out and frolicking in the cemetery. Lastly we stopped for some beach time at Tybee Island. We got some sun and play in the sand before heading back up to Charlotte.
