Stone Mountain
One of North Carolina famous granite domes is called Stone Mountain. Before the onslaught of springs pollen and greenery, we went for a hiking loop around the mountain saving the scary slab climbs for another day.’
The Park is home to several great trout stream and several granite slabs. The elevation of the biggest dome is about 500 feet from the valley floor. There were several waterfalls in between the rolling terrain. In the valley, there is an old homestead, which shows the life of the original farmers in the area.
When we completed the loop, we hiked a less travel trail but to the wolf slabs. Then around to the cedar slabs. Along the way we found a old rundown homestead and moonshiner shack.
Afterwards, we made are way back into town and go drunk at a winery. So far are slumming attire streak for wineries continues with great success. Then we were hungry and finally ate at the pirate ship restaurant. Holy Hell, I’m pretty sure I had a minor heart attack from all the fried food.
