Down in Eldo
The Sunday after snowcaving we headed to Eldo canyon for some relaxing climbing. It was a awesome day and I got some nice pictures of future climbs I hope to do. We headed up to the cartoon crag, which is a underused rock in Eldo, to practice more trad placement.
The cartoon crag is a small little quartzite compared to the other cliffs but it’s still a lot of fun. It’s right off the road through the canyon. Ben wen first and led the major crack in the rock (DOC 5.3). We still had some of his buddy’s trad gear, so we placed everything. We setup a toprope and Amanda got involved cruised easily up the rock.
After that I went up the far right crack (Lazy 5.7 ). The hard part of this climb was the overhanging start. It took some team work and gear wizardry, but it went smoothly. It was a fun and chill day.
