Mt Princeton Hot-springs is a little hill side resort next to several hot and bubbling springs. The resort has a old school feel with separate buildings scattered across the grounds. The main draw of the area is the natural hot springs which turn the creek bed into 30+ bubbling pools. The water is heated to temperatures from 90-130 degrees by several thermal vents from far below the surface.
The resort is built along the bank of the stream so they then pump some of the heated spring water to two lap pools. They regulate the entrance to the lap pools, but not sure if you can just walk the stream up to the hot steam pools themselves. The access to everything is free if you stay the night, but if you’re just visiting its $10 (they are normally open until 10 or 11 at night). We spent the night in the upper-hillside hotels room, next to the closed “summer” pool, which boast a large water-slide. Other feature of the resort include cabins for group of 5 or more people, to have a good ole’ time, rooms closer to the bathhouse and lap pools, a quaint restaurant bar, and lil’ general store.
The area is extremely pretty nestled against the “Chalk Cliffs” on Mt Princeton. The Collegiate Peaks offer some great terrain to explorer and experience. Right up the road exists the ghost town of St. Elmo, which is to be explored later.
Here are some pictures of the area.
