New River Gorge – 2 Kaymoor Weekends

3 months of not climbing, had a very weird effect on everyone. Everyone first time back end up with good beat down and mine was no exception. 12 weeks of intense hangboarding and corporate meeting curling dumbbells did not prepare me for the outside. My feet/toes were my Achilles heel.

1st week – Sam had been planning revenge for along time, and I should have remember. Long Wall pitches was the name of the game and Sam wanted to get 100+ pts. We made our around going form left to right. Ended up taken a whip on 10d and also the 11d. My feet were hurting after 4 pitches. We continued down the wall, until we reach some lesser done 10 with a hard start move. Sam flew up it with ease, andd then on my turn my feet gave up. I made the open crux move, and lost my vision to a white out because of the intense pain in my toes. Sam tossed up his 3 size too big mocs to me, (which still felt painful, but wearable ). All the while I could hear a cackling Sam below. That night BK died, when he decide to eat the Paquio Chip. It was fun for 5 mins, and then scary for the rest of the 45 mins. He went through several life experience, all of which seemed very uncomfortable.

The following day, I took it easy and almost everyone headed out to Kaymoor. Josh, BK and I when with Angie to visit her new Suit in Oak Hill. We got the full tour and also a Pilates warm up class for the day ahead. My feet were corpses so I decide to film Sean on fuel injector. To get different shots, I went up the manky Butcher Man, and also ascend the line on the anchors of Fuel. The edit turned out pretty okay.

2nd Week – Friday off work, since our Quebec Trip got canceled. Sean, Becca and Kristi and I head up in the truck late in the morning. We head straight to the Kaymoor for Kristi and Sean Projects. The weather was great and cool. Kristi ticked off Tony the Tiger , and Sean and I put more time into Fuel Injector. That night, I got to see what it was like to be at the house, when all the 9-5ers would arrive.

The next day it was a big crew that headed out to Kaymoor. Blake and I got all sweated up on Bimbo Shrine. Sean and Lipko got more time and beating on Fuel injector, sean got super close by had the nasty dry fire. We then burn our selves down at butchers. Lipko with a beat on Control, and me with a flame out on Lost souls. Steph and Josh (w/ max) were close on lost souls as well.

That night, Sean, Lipko and I travel through multiple portals with the help of elixir. Sean almost got lost and did not return. Likpo got handle by my 2 part epoxy system. Angie had some good comments, and Sam jenga appeared.

Sunday was a chalked up to be a rainy day. So Blake convince me and others to go to Gualley Crag. We almost step on a copper head, but found a the wall and the burly climbs located with in. I got thrashed on the waterfall route with its intense 3rd bolt moves and then all the shenanigans to get the route cleaned. Blake and Lipko got Gualley Roger prime and ready. That route is all time, and we will all be back for it. The walk out the rains openned up and the purple t-storms appeared. With a 30 min walk out in the downpour, I wouldn’t change a thing.
