Loveland Pass Night Riding

When there is a full moon, skiers and snowboarders come out from miles around to do some midnight riding on Loveland Pass.  The attracts lots of locals to a pretty fun scene of hanging out, grilling, and doing some riding.   Riding Loveland Pass during the day time is one experience, but riding it at midnight is another.

Riding Loveland is what one really expects when they think of out west, riding, hiking ridges, riding untouched powder, and uncompromising terrain.  I took the Blazer up,  because it was able to haul a lot of people and provide some warmth and comfort.  There were a good amount of people out that night.  It gave the mountain pass a real chill party atmosphere.  Everyone was there for the same reason, to get some dark skiing and riding in.   The run from the top of the pass to the bottom pickup area lasted about 5-10 mins depending on which route you take.  Just enough, to get a good rhythm going for the shuttle drivers.

I had first duty as the shuttle driver, and this gave me some time get some good nighttime shots.  This also made me a little late for pickup, but I feel the pictures are worth it.   Also being the driver,  I met a lot of other cool people riding but just offering rides up to the top.  It was a very supportive atmosphere, where you could just about hitch a ride from anyone.

After riding that night, I stopped by in Breck and took some quick pictures of the the snow sculpture competition that took place downtown.
