Moore’s Wall – 2 Classics

Sunday was a spotty forecast and I still wanted to get out and do something. The rain gods has descended on the entire eastcoast and cast the probability of rain everywhere. Although I had a late start in the morning, I worked out a plan with a series of text messages with John Lee. We left Charlotte around 11am to arrive at Moore’s during prime popup-storm time.

We ticked off two of the classic overhanging moderates, Air Show 5.8 and Zoo View 5.7. You probably can’t find a steeper, more fun, and classic trad route in North Carolina. Each route has little intro pitch that you need to do as payment for getting on the meat of the routes. Zoo view had 5.6 scramble to the ‘crow’s nest’ and Air Show had a mossy green slabby crack to the perch.

Each were great for what they are, and pulling hero moves with big exposure never gets old. We rapped down to the “crows nest” via the rappel line and to the ground before the sky’s opened up. We could see rain clouds all around us. Luckily, we snuck away to Winston-Salem and had some success brews at Foothills Brewery.
