Every year Denver host the “Great American Beer Fest”. I was lucky enough to have a ticket bought for my by Tony C. The beerfest takes place in the Denver Convention Center, and offers every beer underneath the sun. Your ticket gets you a shot glass and the ability to freely roam and taste any beer you desire for the next 4-5hrs. This being my first major beerfest, I was made aware of several key tricks, the most important of which, ” HAVE A PRETZEL NECKLACE.” They will not only provide nourishment for the next 4 hrs, but they also are great way to make friends. The next morning we got up earlier to catch the sun rise on the mts (called Alpine-glow). Since I had washed my clothes in the stream last night (it smelled of fish and I did not want a bear to visit me during the night), all my hiking attire was still wet. On the second morning, we decided that we weren’t going to do the full 4 pass loop, but we still wanted to see the next basin over the 2nd pass. So we were off early in the morning to see Trail Rider Pass. Without our 40lbs (which we left at base camp) we made very good time and speed.
