New River Gorge: Jeff and Katie Wedding, Bridge Tour

On Memorial Day Weekend we headed up to the New River Gorge to celebrate the marriage of Jeff and Katie. We also got a little bit of climbing in as well. The big surprise was the neat experience of walking underneath on the scaffolding of the bridge.

Our airbnb was a nice doublewide right across from the AAC campground. Although a bit rough around the edges, it would make nice base of operations. We teamed up with Chuck, Alex, Shane, Joe and Kim at the house.
The next day was the adventure and activity day. So we decided to go to the meadow river to climb rocks in the potential downpour that was predicted. Alex and Shane has the same idea. A couple of the buttresses were a complete zoo. But Alexis and I wandered down to the 2nd buttress and had it completely to ourselves. Whiskey and Climber Shots were had.

That night was the get together at the family house. Pizza, drinks, and live music was the theme of the night. Crawling in and out of windows was the key beta to move around.

Sunday morning, Alexis, Chuck and I tagged along with Jeff and his best men for a tour of the New River Gorge Bridge. We did the walk with a couple of fun local guides. The hike along the bridge was really neat and cool experience worth doing at least once. I took a lot of pictures.

That night was the wedding. Partying and dancing ensued. It was a great time. Next morning was rough, but a pounding of the house beer Natty Light was just the ticket to kick start the day of wet, hot slab climbing.
